Our story

Choose to be spoilt for choice with our divine all-day menu, or treat those you love (or yourself, we won’t tell!) to our famous Deluxe High Tea. Whatever your choice, Collins Coffee House guarantees the freshest produce, sourced locally from markets and farm gates wherever possible to bring you the very best fare Melbourne has to offer.

The brainchild of Raffaele and Laura, Collins Coffee House was established in 2019, to bring delightful daytime fare to Melbourne’s CBD. They have worked and travelled the world together owning a variety of businesses from catering companies, iconic espresso bars, 5 star restaurants, and high tea rooms to name a few.

Having attended culinary school in the UK, Laura’s passion for culinary excellence and her innate sense of creativity have seen her traverse the globe, and work in a range of hospitality capacities over the last four decades. Lauras journey began in Devon England, where “Devonshire Tea” was born. From owning several restaurants across a number of continents, working as the pastry chef at the Sydney Opera House, to working as a personal chef for high-end clients, and directing her own catering company for many years, Laura’s world-class skills are now at home at Collins Coffee House where she is the Head Chef.

Descending from coffee royalty in Naples, Italy, Raffaele’s heritage shines through much of the cuisine at Collins Coffee House. Educated at hospitality school in Switzerland, Raffaele is the first smiling face that our customers see when they visit Collins Coffee House. Worked at the prestigious Ritz Hotel in London, where high tea is arguably one of the most elegant and famous in the world. A man of many talents, Raffaele ensures the smooth operation of the front of house team.

Situated in the National Trust listed Bank of New Zealand Building, Collins Coffee House breathes life once again into the beautiful CBD space, which dates back to 1867. Collins Coffee House has maintained the charm of the establishment, whilst creating a delightful café space. Each piece of furniture and crockery has been collected by Raffaele and Laura along their journey, and especially curated for use in Collins Coffee House.
